Job summary

City of Windsor is looking for an Information Analyst to interpret data, build dashboards, and deliver actionable insights to support programs and strategic initiatives.

The role requires a strong background in data science and visual analytics, with experience in Power BI and Tableau.

Qualifications

• Must have a four (4) year post-secondary Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Science, Computer Science or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalent.
• Must have over three (3) years of work experience as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, BI Analyst or related occupation, including demonstrated experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
• Prior programming experience with SQL, Python and/or R for data manipulation and analysis is considered an asset.
• Must have experience managing multiple projects, competing priorities and maintaining confidentiality.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Experience in managing relationships with corporate and community partners is required.
• Must be a self-motivated, passionate individual capable of independent work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interpreting results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex statistical analysis;
• Completing the gathering and cleaning processes for data from various sources including highly sensitive and confidential information, ensuring data integrity and quality;
• Using statistical methods and techniques to identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies, and extracting meaningful insights;
• Developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data findings effectively;
• Identifying KPIs and developing metrics to track and measure business performance;
• Collaborating with colleagues to optimize data collection, storage, and retrieval processes;
• Working collaboratively with departments to understand requirements and support identification of program objectives and related tasks;
• Monitoring data quality to identify data issues and propose data cleansing or enhancement solutions;
• Delivering evidence-based recommendations and meaningful insights to various teams to support strategic initiatives;
• Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in data analysis, visualization, and reporting;
• Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Occupational Health & Safety program;
• Will perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

• Given that this job is a new position a Physical Demands Analysis will be completed with the incumbent after approximately six months of occupying the position.
