Role Details

Title: Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Manager 2

Location: Swords

A part-time (0.5) permanent position is available within Vhi for an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse CNM 2 based in Swords. The successful candidate will implement a comprehensive, standardized IPC service aligned with the Health & Wellbeing (H&W) IPC annual program, supporting safe, quality care. Responsibilities include clinical focus, patient advocacy, education and training, research, audit, and consultation across H&W national services.

Role Purpose
  • Provide professional leadership and demonstrate best practice in IPC.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder and expert advisor within the IPC team for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Ensure achievement of IPC annual program goals.
  • Maintain an effective IPC service by developing and evaluating KPIs in line with national and international standards, reviewed quarterly.
  • Adhere to national and international standards of care.
  • Manage service user care ensuring high standards using evidence-based, risk management approaches.
Education & Experience
  • Registered or eligible for registration in the General Nurse Division.
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience; 1 year in infection prevention & control preferred.
  • Recognized post-registration nursing course (Higher Diploma or Postgrad) in Infection Control, to be completed within 3 years of starting the role.
  • Maintain live annual registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Skills and Abilities
  • Provide expertise and resources in IPC to healthcare personnel.
  • Ensure guidelines are evidence-based and regularly updated.
  • Advise on procurement related to IPC.
  • Participate in risk assessments, standards, and procedures formulation.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement and innovation.
  • Possess a full clean driving license and access to suitable transport.
