Department: Infection Prevention & Control
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $37.98 - $47.48 per hour
Status: Temporary Full-Time
Closing Date: December 31, 2024

As an integral member of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit, the INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER I works in the capacity of support to meet the needs of an evolving infection and prevention practice. The principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Performing surveillance activities within UHN to facilitate preventing and controlling outbreaks of infection.
  2. Acting as a resource for internal clients, providing support services during shifts and on an on-call basis including occasional evening and weekend on-call.
  3. Providing education and training to internal care providers and other staff members.
  4. Performing continuous Quality Improvement responsibilities.
  5. Participating in professional development and education activities/programs to ensure excellence in the provision of Infection Prevention and Control services at UHN.
  6. Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Qualifications
  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor's degree program.
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing, Health or Allied Health Sciences, and/or Microbiology or recognized equivalent required.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Completion of an IPAC Canada accredited Infection Prevention & Control course preferred.
  • Experience in designing and conducting research with capabilities to perform statistical analysis preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a Hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
