Job description

Employment Duration: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Education:

  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Education / teaching of individuals in early childhood special education programs
  • Special education and teaching, other

Tasks:

  • Assess children's development to prepare tailored learning plans.
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Maintain daycare equipment.
  • Storytelling and reading stories.
  • Assist educators in carrying out developmental programs.
  • Lead activities such as storytelling, singing, and outings.
  • Keep records and observe children for developmental or behavioral issues.
  • Encourage creativity through arts, play, and music.
  • Guide children in developing proper habits and routines.
  • Prepare snacks and organize spaces for activities.
  • Discuss children's progress with staff and prepare reports.
  • Follow licensing regulations and establish behavior guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community providers.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate other staff members.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, and preparing children for rest.

Supervision: 1 to 2 people

Certificates, Licenses, and Courses:

  • Child development supervisor (ECE level 3)
  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR

Target Audience: Toddlers to pre-school (1 - 3 years)

Experience with Special Needs Students: Assistance with personal hygiene

Area of Work Experience: Cleaning

Experience with Special Needs Children: Children with mental health or intellectual disabilities
