Job Description

We are seeking reliable, nurturing, career-minded teachers for our Early Learning Centers. Serving children from birth to 5 years old, our infant and preschool programs provide high-quality child care and holistic support for low-income families. We work to ensure that all our kids are prepared for a lifetime of learning with the tools and support they need to thrive.

Position Summary

Teachers are responsible for providing high-quality care and education that meets the needs of children and families in an inclusive setting. They implement services aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, California Department of Education regulations, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Community Care Licensing. Teachers facilitate developmentally appropriate activities, observe and assess children, and partner with families to promote growth and positive outcomes.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement curriculum goals using Creative Curriculum, Project-Based Curriculum, and other standards.
  • Plan and facilitate learning activities for children, providing guidance and supervision.
  • Supervise children at all times and interact using responsive strategies.
  • Document children's progress through observations, work samples, and assessments.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences and home visits annually.
  • Create engaging, organized learning environments reflecting cultural diversity.
  • Build relationships with families to foster effective partnerships.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, conduct health checks, and manage special health needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and classroom safety checks daily.
  • Guide children in health, hygiene, and safety practices.
  • Ensure proper attendance recording and conduct emergency drills.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain necessary certifications.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for all children.
  • Communicate effectively with families and participate in staff meetings and events.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; AA degree or higher preferred for Head Start programs.
  • Current Child Development permit at the Associate Teacher level or above.
  • Completion of 12+ semester units in Early Childhood Education; additional infant/toddler coursework preferred.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in early childhood education, preferably in subsidized or Head Start programs.
  • Experience working with diverse families and children.
  • Pre-employment physical, TB clearance, and background checks.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, with ongoing safety training.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors daily.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in computer applications.
