Overview

- Program Development & Implementation
- Plan and carry out developmentally appropriate activities and programs tailored to the needs and interests of children, fostering growth in their executive functions through Left Brain (Montessori-inspired) and Right Brain (Reggio Emilia-inspired) curriculum.
- Optimize the classroom environment to support the child’s growth, exploration, and engagement in daily learning experiences.
- Act as an intentional designer and co-learner - setting up responsive, curiosity-driven spaces that evolve through observation, reflection, and the emerging interests of children.
- Monitor and document children’s progress through observations and assessments, optimizing data in the Fueling Brains application for appropriate lesson plans to enhance teaching and learning.
Child Supervision & Safety
- Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy environment for children, including adhering to safety standards, monitoring play areas, and maintaining a clean classroom.
- Supervise children indoors and outdoors, ensuring their well-being and safety during all activities.
Positive Child Development
- Support children in developing cognitive flexibility, working memory, and inhibitory control through the nine intelligence areas.
- Encourage positive behavior and manage challenging behaviors with appropriate strategies.
Parent Communication & Involvement
- Build positive relationships with families through open communication about their child's experiences, development, and concerns.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, daily updates, and family engagement initiatives.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other educators and staff to create a positive, cohesive environment.
- Share insights, observations, and strategies with colleagues to improve care quality.
Facility Start-up
- Assist in setting up the classroom and learning environments for a new childcare facility.
- Help develop initial policies and routines, contributing to the center’s culture and educational vision.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Overview
This is a 1-year fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent, reflecting our program's growth and needs.
The ECE-IT will help create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment aligned with our philosophy, focusing on a whole-brain approach that integrates Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and movement learning for children aged 24-36 months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Development & Implementation

- Maintain a safe environment and supervise children indoors and outdoors.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with specialization in Infant and Toddler Education.
- Current ECE-IT Certificate or evidence of application.
- Experience with children aged 0-3 years, including start-up environments (preferred).
- Knowledge of BC Early Learning Framework, ECEBC Code of Ethics, neuroscience-informed practices, and Montessori/Reggio environments.
Work Environment Requirements
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- Physical ability to engage in active play and outdoor activities.
Additional Requirements
- Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector search.
- First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
- Up-to-date immunizations as required in BC.
