Job summary

Irving Shipbuilding seeks a Specialist, Industrial Participation to help deliver ITB commitments and strengthen Canada's defence industry. You will work with J.D. Irving companies, industry partners, and government stakeholders to identify ITB-eligible initiatives and drive economic growth.

The role requires in-office presence, security clearances, and experience in defence policy contexts. You will coordinate across teams, monitor performance, and prepare ITB proposals for approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in Canada's defence industry and/or ITB policy environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Experience across cross-functional teams and managing complex initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Post-graduate education and existing relationships within the defence sector or ISED are assets.

At Irving Shipbuilding, we're proud to support Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy and strengthen the country's defence industry. We are seeking a Specialist, Industrial Participation to help deliver our Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) commitments to the Government of Canada.

Reporting to the Director, Industrial Participation, you will work across J.D. Irving companies, industry partners, and government stakeholders to identify, develop, and execute ITB-eligible initiatives that support Canadian economic growth and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of Irving Shipbuilding's ITB strategy and commitments.
  • Build relationships across J.D. Irving companies to identify ITB-eligible investment opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit ITB proposals and transaction sheets for government approval.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and government stakeholders to achieve ITB objectives.

Requirements

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
