Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking an Industrial Shift Supervisor to support security operations at a large industrial site in Fort McMurray. The role leads day-to-day security on shift, ensures adherence to site procedures, and mentors security personnel in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of supervising experience, a Canadian work authorization, a Alberta Security Guard Licence, and strong leadership, communication, and incident reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Requires 2–3 years of security supervisor experience, preferably industrial.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
• Able to pass client drug and alcohol testing.
• Must pass N95 respirator fit testing.
• Valid Alberta Security Guard Licence.
• High School diploma.
• Valid First Aid/ CPR and AED.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with clean abstract.
• Strong communication, leadership and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven incident documentation and report writing abilities.
• Experience in investigations is an asset.
• MS Office proficiency.
• CSO Certification beneficial.
• Wildlife Awareness and Field Ergonomics awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, coach and provide on-shift training to security personnel.
• Conduct mobile and foot patrols, monitor traffic safety, and inspect posts.
• Monitor access control and ensure procedure compliance.
• Document and report incidents and site events through systems.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and safety initiatives.
• Assist with emergency response, investigations and traffic control.
• Identify and report performance or conduct concerns to the Site Manager.
• Be trained to perform any security position on site as needed.
• Act as primary contact for significant incidents and escalate as needed.

What does an Industrial Shift Supervisor do?

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Industrial Shift Supervisor oversees the day-to-day site security operations during their assigned shift while ensuring GardaWorld's commitment to safety, service excellence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, coach, and provide on-shift training to security personnel.
• Conduct mobile patrols, foot patrols, traffic safety monitoring, and regular inspections of security posts, personnel, vehicles, and equipment.
• Monitor access control operations and ensure compliance with site procedures, training requirements, and security protocols.
• Document and report all security incidents, observations, and site events through internal systems, and shift reports.
• Participate in workplace observations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and support site safety initiatives.
• Assist with emergency response, incident coordination, investigations, and traffic control during emergency situations.
• Identify and report performance, attendance, training, or conduct concerns to the Site Manager.
• Be fully trained and capable of performing any security position on site as operationally required.
• Act as the primary point of contact for significant incidents and elevate concerns to the Site Manager as required.

Qualifications to become an Industrial Shift Supervisor

• Must be authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain compliance with client-mandated drug and alcohol testing requirements
• This position requires the use of respiratory protection equipment. Candidates must be able to pass N95 respirator fit testing and comply with all sites respiratory protection requirements, including being clean-shaven where required to ensure a proper seal
• Valid Alberta Security Guard Licence
• High School diploma
• Valid Standard First Aid/ Level C CPR/AED
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving abstract
• Minimum 2-3 years of security supervisor experience, preferably in an industrial, energy, or large-scale environment
• Previous supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience is considered a strong asset
• Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent report writing and incident documentation abilities
• Experience conducting investigations and managing security incidents is considered an asset
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Valid CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
