Job summary

Brock Group in Nisku, AB, is seeking an Industrial Painter / Spray Applicator to join the coating shop team. This hands-on role focuses on applying industrial coating systems to structural steel, piping, and fabricated components, ensuring safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has spray-application experience, works well with coatings like zincs, epoxies, and urethanes, and can read specifications and work orders. Shift flexibility and physical endurance are required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Industrial Painter or Spray Applicator is required.
  • Experience applying industrial coatings to steel and other industrial substrates.
  • Working knowledge of industrial coating materials, spray equipment, and application processes.
  • Ability to follow coating specifications, mixing requirements, application instructions, and work orders.
  • Valid CSTS 2020 and WHMIS certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and identify defects, wear, or unsafe operating conditions.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, or night shifts.
  • Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
  • NACE or AMPP certification is considered an asset but is not required.

  • Prepare coating materials and application equipment according to product and job specifications.
  • Review surfaces before application and identify preparation issues or defects that could affect coating quality.
  • Monitor coating application to ensure proper coverage, consistency, finish, and required thickness.
  • Complete touch-ups and other coating work as required.
  • Read and follow shop work orders, coating specifications, manufacturer requirements, and related documentation.
  • Inspect, operate, clean, and maintain spray equipment, hoses, pumps, and other tools.
  • Identify equipment concerns, application irregularities, and changing conditions before they affect safety or quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all shop safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support other shop and production activities as required.

The Opportunity

Brock is seeking an experiencedIndustrial Painter / Spray Applicator to join our team at theNisku Coating Shop.

This is a hands-on shop position responsible for applying industrial coating systems to structural steel, piping, and other fabricated components. The successful candidate will have previous industrial spray-application experience and take pride in producing safe, consistent, high-quality work.
