The Opportunity

As an Industrial Millwright with the Corporation, you will work at our Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), where we have made significant strides towards reducing the City’s carbon footprint, air emissions and overall operating costs. More recently, this facility was equipped with a new Building Automation System (BAS) that controls building heating and ventilation, as well as new higher efficiency turbo blowers. We are proud of the recent transformations at the WPCP, as the modern facilities provide the ideal environment for sustainability and a great place to work!

Our Industrial Millwrights are responsible for the repair and maintenance work associated with the equipment, buildings and grounds of Water Pollution Control Plant and sewage lift stations. This role is under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has the following accountabilities:

  • Performs maintenance as assigned, or as outlined by the Preventative Maintenance System. Operates valves, pumps, generators, controls and other equipment as necessary.
  • Maintains and inputs information into the Preventative Maintenance System by entering work performed, parts used, and time required to perform work on work orders.
  • Monitors assigned equipment, identifies and reports equipment wear, abnormalities, breakdowns, and repairs required.
  • Repairs or replaces equipment or parts that break down or show wear or malfunction. Recommends improvements for plant equipment and participates in installations.
  • Performs general building and grounds repairs as required.
  • Obtains necessary parts, supplies, and tools, from inventory, and is accountable for their return, or assignment to Work Orders. Recommends spare parts for inventory.
  • Performs and assists with confined space entries using self-contained breathing apparatus as required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Journeyman Certification as a millwright
  • Must have proven practical experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial pumps, motors up to 800 HP, and controls, and be proficient in welding, soldering, pipefitting, and tool maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering, construction and mechanical drawings.
  • Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions.
