WHAT THE POSITION ENTAILS

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position’s job responsibilities include:

  • Inspect, install, repair, replace, adjust mechanical equipment in the plant.
  • Service the mechanical aspects of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic / pneumatic systems.
  • Receive instructions, prints, and work orders, covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work.
  • Find the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
  • Advise when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Maintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and materials usage on computerized maintenance management software (CMMS), work orders, logbooks, and checklists.
  • Perform rounds and checks on machinery condition using checklists or digital tools to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.
  • Responsible for performing assigned maintenance work on large and small producing units.
  • Operate power driven mobile equipment and ordinary crane hooking.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Mechanic / Millwright – A) as recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario is required.
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with exposure to Bearings, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Rotating Equipment.
  • Strong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades.
  • Basic computer experience.
