WHAT THE POSITION ENTAILS
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position’s job responsibilities include:
- Inspect, install, repair, replace, adjust mechanical equipment in the plant.
- Service the mechanical aspects of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic / pneumatic systems.
- Receive instructions, prints, and work orders, covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work.
- Find the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
- Advise when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
- Maintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and materials usage on computerized maintenance management software (CMMS), work orders, logbooks, and checklists.
- Perform rounds and checks on machinery condition using checklists or digital tools to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.
- Responsible for performing assigned maintenance work on large and small producing units.
- Operate power driven mobile equipment and ordinary crane hooking.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Mechanic / Millwright – A) as recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario is required.
- Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with exposure to Bearings, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Rotating Equipment.
- Strong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades.
- Basic computer experience.
