Role

As an Industrial Mechanical & Hydraulics Maintenance Shift Supervisor, you will lead maintenance teams to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our manufacturing processes. Your role will encompass hands-on technical support, team leadership, and the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance actions to uphold equipment reliability and availability.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the application of health, safety, and environmental standards and practices.
• Comply with HSE procedures, report incidents or observations, perform inspections, and participate in investigations.
• Manage performance of direct reports through consistent application of CBA and annual reviews.
• Troubleshoot and minimize failures impacting production by diagnosing issues and executing necessary interventions.
• Maintain a visible presence in the mill to foster employee engagement and assess work processes.
• Provide technical hands-on support on the production floor, expected to be 70% or more.
• Implement preventive/corrective actions, keep risk analyses and environmental assessments updated.
• Act as a shift leader, responsible for leading employees during their shifts, coordinating schedules, and ensuring safety.
• Verify technical resource availability and maintain suitable stock levels.
• Manage and update maintenance information systems and technical documentation.
• Support Base Maintenance Supervisors in executing preventive tasks and failure analyses.
• Analyze complex topics and recommend courses of action.
• Interact with internal and external contacts with a higher level of autonomy.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, standards, and applicable laws.
• Proactively motivate, coach, develop staff, and manage HR activities according to norms and procedures.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years in industrial maintenance, trades, or engineering technician experience is an asset.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Trade (433a preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety procedures.
• Experience with SAP is considered an asset.

Scope of Machines & Equipment:

Finishing: Online pipe cutting, threading, hydro testing, coupling bucking, handling equipment, conveyor lines, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, lubrication systems, pumps, and valves.

Hot Rolling Mill: Hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, lubrication systems, conveyor lines, industrial pipe handling, gearboxes above 1700 kW, hydraulic cylinders, rotary actuators, furnace handling, and walking beam systems.

Schedule & Working Conditions:

• 12-hour rotational shift, with flexibility based on business needs.
• Work performed in a steel manufacturing mill.
