Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Industrial Maintenance Technician is a full-time position, responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to related standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. You will work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety while performing your duties.
The position provides professional, government - certified services to the plant facility through effective troubleshooting of equipment problems (including mechanical issues, PLC problems) throughout the plant, and solving them quickly and cost effectively, repairing mechanical and minor electrical malfunctions on production and facilities equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining & installing electrical / mechanical components.
- Performing corrective and preventative maintenance on process and facility equipment.
- Inspecting, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing various pumps, gear reducers & drives, motors, shaft seals, bearings, and mechanical seals.
- Installing of process & utility equipment (electrical / mechanical / instrumentation / plumbing).
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration and cooling equipment in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
- preventative maintenance servicing to air compressors, repairs, upgrades and installations to various air compressors and compressed air systems.
- Analytical troubleshooting, detecting irregularities in equipment, and repairing mechanical & electrical related breakdowns identifying the root cause, and addressing the problem effectively.
- Becoming sufficiently familiar with the operation of all plant equipment in order to identify irregularities and provide quick and innovative solutions to equipment and process issues.
- Utilizing knowledge and skill to recognize opportunities for improvement and savings.
- Maintaining a preventative maintenance program for facility equipment and keeping detailed records of maintenance including equipment manuals, repair histories and spare parts inventories.
- Working independently and in conjunction with management and supervisors to maintain communication expectations.
- Expected to be part of alarm response call out list.
- PLC troubleshooting and modifying programs.
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
- Ensures compliance with manufacturing, CFIA, health and safety, government regulations and all Food Safety standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Industrial Millwright preferred with maintenance experience in an industrial or regulated production facility, or other trade with similar experience
- Valid Ontario Electrical license, preferably.
- Licensed Mechanic Millwright an asset and / or diploma from a Mechanical or Electrical trade program or engineering tech program.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience, preferably in a food production facility.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and knowledge of preventive maintenance and other maintenance tools.
- Ability to analyze equipment malfunctions and then select appropriate corrective actions.
- Knowledge and understanding CFIA, WHMIS and GMP requirements.
- Ability to communicate with both management and team members.
- Must be very flexible, be a team player, and have the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must have excellent work ethics and attendance record.
- Must have good command of the English language.
- Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, on-call when necessary

- Wage TDB based upon experience
SALARY : $25.00-$28.00 per hour
