A leading manufacturing company is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to champion occupational health and safety across its operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop proactive risk controls, workplace well-being, and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. The successful candidate will design, implement, and continuously improve policies and programs to mitigate health risks on-site.

The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, the Industrial Hygienist will serve as the subject matter expert for environmental and occupational health controls. This hands-on and collaborative position will play a critical role in hazard prevention and incident reduction throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and update workplace health and safety policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Perform regular site inspections to assess work environments, identify potential hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Guide and advise management and staff on occupational health issues.
  • Oversee biological and environmental monitoring programs, analyze exposure data, and compile comprehensive compliance reports.
  • Conduct and support investigations into workplace incidents or occupational exposures, proposing and implementing remedial measures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and health awareness by maintaining open, informative communication with staff at all levels.
  • Advise on, or participate in, audits of industrial hygiene programs for program effectiveness and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health, or a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety laws, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with policy development, site assessments, risk analysis, and training delivery.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
