Overview

Industrial Engineer - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 105k/year - Burlington, WA

  • Our client is a solar panel manufacturer who is making a huge difference in the world by reducing carbon emissions and improving access to clean energy with every product they make. They manufacture a premium brand of high-efficiency solar panels for installers, distributors, and businesses across North America!
  • The Industrial Engineer will own process development and continuous improvement for PV module manufacturing. The Industrial Engineer will support equipment quotations, launch and stabilize new lines, and standardize best practices (SOPs, SWIs, PFMEAs) while coaching operators/techs and driving measurable gains in yield, scrap, and OEE.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and sustain processes for stringing, lamination, framing, EL/flash/final test.
  • Scope machinery requirements; support RFQs and vendor evaluations from concept through buy-off.
  • Identify and run kaizen events that improve throughput, quality, and cost; close with verified results.
  • Track yield, scrap, and OEE; lead RCCA using SPC, 5-Why, and fishbone; implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Build and manage scope, timeline, and budget for installs, upgrades, and transfers; report progress and risks.
  • Create/control plans and PFMEAs; ensure processes meet UL/IEC, ISO 9001, and site EHS requirements.
  • Support install/debug/launch; qualify equipment and recipes; drive automation and recipe optimization.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and OEMs/SIs to meet program deliverables.
  • Lead SOP/SWI creation; develop VSMs for production lines across sites; run trial builds to validate changes.
  • Coach/mentor less-experienced team members; provide operator training on new/changed processes.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or related engineering field.
  • 3+ years in high-volume automated manufacturing; PV or electronics a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with SPC, DOE, Lean/Six Sigma, structured problem solving, and control plans/PFMEA.
  • Working knowledge of MES, AutoCAD/CAD, and statistical tools.
  • Controls/automation familiarity: robotics, plant controls, ControlLogix PLCs, VFDs, HMIs; ability to troubleshoot with OEMs/SIs.
  • Understanding of U.S. design/safety standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70); strong safety-systems mindset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; clear technical writing and cross-functional communication.
  • Organized, self-directed, and able to own deliverables end-to-end; available for overtime/weekends as needed.
