Job description

If you are a talented and experienced Industrial Engineer, Aplin has the right opportunity for you! Our client, a leader in their field, has partnered with Aplin to grow their team in Acheson, Alberta!

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and refine manufacturing workflows for modular datacenters, cooling pods, and power distribution units (SPDUs).
  2. Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  3. Optimize mechanical and electrical assembly processes for scalability.
  4. Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control plans, and inspection criteria.
  5. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and electrical codes.
  6. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to improve product reliability.
  7. Design and maintain manufacturing tools, jigs, and fixtures to enhance efficiency.
  8. Integrate automation solutions for precision assembly.
  9. Develop and oversee preventive maintenance plans for production equipment.
  10. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing of high-quality materials.
  11. Optimize bill of materials (BOMs) and cost structures for efficient production.
  12. Improve inventory management strategies aligned with just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing.
  13. Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to transition new designs into production.
  14. Conduct design reviews to ensure manufacturability, ease of assembly, and scalability.
  15. Support prototyping, testing, and pilot production runs for new products.
  16. Utilize real-time data collection and KPI tracking to optimize production.
  17. Implement Six Sigma, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and process mapping techniques.
  18. Lead Kaizen events and cross-functional initiatives to drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  2. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process optimization, or production improvement.
  3. Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical assembly.
  4. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality control methodologies.
  5. Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing (preferred).
  6. Familiarity with thermal and fluid system manufacturing (immersion cooling or HVAC experience is an asset).
  7. Strong problem-solving skills with experience in RCA methodologies (FMEA, 8D, 5-Why, etc.).
