Job summary

Wonderbrands in Kitchener, ON is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our bakery team. You will support electrical controls, PLC/HMI programming changes, maintenance, and safe operation of production lines in a fast-paced food environment.

You will troubleshoot, repair, install and calibrate machinery, participate in continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with food safety and health standards. A license and food-industry experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Industrial Electrician license required or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs and electrical control systems.

Responsibilities

• PLC and HMI programming changes and troubleshooting.
• Modification and calibration of equipment; weight scales, VFDs, servomotors, and network communications experience.
• Repair, troubleshooting and installation of machinery including electrical and electronic equipment, control systems and automation.
• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems.
• Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability; participate in continuous improvement.
• Previous food industry experience preferred.
• Comply with food safety, health and safety and environmental policies.
• Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all production equipment.
• Continually improve equipment function via design improvements.
• Ensure work area is clean and safe at all times.

Responsibilities

• PLC and HMI programming changes and troubleshooting including modification and calibration of equipment; weight scales VFD, Servomotors and network communications experience.


• Repair, troubleshooting and installation of machinery including electrical and electronic equipment, control systems and automation


• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems


• Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules


• Previous Food industry experience preferred


• Comply with all applicable legislative and Bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.


• Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all production and bakery equipment


• Continually improve equipment function via design improvements


• Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work


• Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards


• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Industrial Electrician License (442A) or 309A is required


• 3-5 years of industrial, electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry


• General knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and ability to assist all trades people as required


• Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required


• Comfortable using computers


• Ability to work well within a team and independently


• Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs


• You really enjoy working in a fast paced environment where every day can bring new and unique challenges


• Ability to work a flexible shift day/afternoon/night, Sunday to Saturday.
