Job Summary
Electricians install and repair cables, electrical appliances, lighting systems, control devices and related equipment in buildings and facilities on a mine site. They may be called upon to work in workshops and work with several different trades during their workday, as they evolve within multidisciplinary teams and must be very versatile. They can install and connect power lines or maintain conveyor electrical circuits. They can install, handle, repair and maintain a wide variety of electrical appliances and industrial equipment, even from the most modern automation technologies used by the mining industry, and to diagnose problems. In some cases, they are the only ones who hold the necessary certification to handle and troubleshoot certain electrical devices.

Key Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for the efficient and timely performance of the function of an industrial electrician.

• Work on power equipment up to 25kV.
• Perform the installation and maintenance of various electrical components as well as electrical appliances.

Assume responsibility for performing production functions in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Follow established procedures and instructions.
• Meet safety and quality standards.
• Meet requirements within the allotted time.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with relevant departments and their supervisor.

• Maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.
• Maintain a professional reputation of the company.
• Inform the supervisor of plant activities and any significant issues.
• Identify problems and suggest solutions.
• Attend and participate in assigned committees and training sessions to update technical knowledge as required.
• Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications | Education

• Professional diploma (DEP), College diploma (DEC) in industrial electronics or equivalent
• Hold an journeyman electrician certificate and accumulate more than 5000 hours of trade.
• Have all qualifications and skills relevant to the position.
