Job Function

Perform electrical, electronic, and general maintenance duties.

Job Description

Perform the following duties:

1. Install and maintain electrical, heating, mechanical, and fire alarm systems.
2. Troubleshoot faults in electrical and electronic systems and equipment, and repair or replace components.
3. Monitor and adjust microprocessors and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
4. Install conduits and maintain other electrical enclosures.
5. Carry out general maintenance duties.
6. May be required to perform custodial duties on a temporary basis.
7. Estimate, requisition, and purchase materials and equipment.
8. Calculate elevations using a transit.
9. Maintain equipment and machinery.
10. Maintain records and prepare reports as directed.
11. Operate electric and gas welders.
12. Operate a motor vehicle.

Job Requirements

1. Requires an Industrial Electrician’s Certificate of Qualification.
2. Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory, programmable controllers, microprocessors, microcomputer systems, test equipment, and instrumentation.
3. Understanding of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards, and relevant government regulations.
4. Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds and in confined spaces.
5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
6. Valid driver’s license.
7. Experience with various power and hand tools and machines.
8. Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with Board personnel, suppliers, and the public.
