Job Summary:
Maintain physical plant and equipment to ensure 100% production uptime. Perform preventive maintenance and ensure robustness of production equipment. Ensure safety of all manufacturing equipment and facilities in the plant.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Provincial Certification Red Seal 442A required.
- Post-Secondary Education in Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems.
- Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Good mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
- PLC programming/training is a definite asset.
- Forklift license is an asset.
- Knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems.
- Experience with electrical tools, measuring, and testing equipment.
- Professional and respectful communication with colleagues.
Major Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues, replacing electrical components as needed.
- Work from wiring diagrams, code books, and similar documents.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment.
- Plan, install, and repair complex wiring circuits and systems according to codes.
- Install and maintain electrical and electronic components of equipment.
- Repair CNC and PLC controls, presses.
- Apply electrical practices, techniques, and understand the operation of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Complete repairs promptly to avoid production interruptions.
- Coordinate with internal departments for design input, fabrication, and modifications.
- Work closely with supervisors to ensure equipment meets production requirements.
- Assist in validating new or transferred equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot production equipment and document issues and solutions.
- Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, parts, and equipment.
- Complete routine paperwork as required.
- Write and program PLCs (OMRON, ALLEN BRADLEY, SIEMENS).
- Work from drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures.
