Job description

CertainTeed Canada has an exciting career opportunity for an Industrial Electrician based in Calgary to join our Board Plant team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

Wage: $49.46/hour

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the industrial electrician is responsible for completing electrical maintenance work as directed by the maintenance supervisor and other plant personnel, to ensure the availability and reliability of plant equipment and machinery related to wallboard manufacturing, while ensuring compliance with local building codes.

• Maintain a safe working environment concerning all electrical maintenance activities.
• Work within the plant’s WCM & quality system with multi-functional teams on WCM projects.
• Focus on achieving Availability/Utilization targets for process equipment.
• Assist in improving and maintaining electrical, instrumentation & automation systems, including preventative and predictive maintenance, spares planning/inventory control, purchasing, work procedures, and documentation.
• Help plan and schedule electrical preventive and corrective maintenance work.
• Provide off-shift support for electrical equipment breakdowns.
• Record and generate maintenance history on SAP.
• Perform IR scanning of plant equipment as required.
• Experience working with Maintenance SAP system is preferred.
• Knowledge of Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, and Arc Flash protection is essential.
• Machine installation experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform rotating shift work if needed.
• Strong trades, written, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple jobs or projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in MS Office tools and strong computer literacy.
• Other duties as required.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

• Journeyperson or certified electrician. A Red Seal certification is an asset.
• 1–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in wall-board, cement, or mining industries.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA systems, especially GE iFix, and experience with PLC/control system Historian and trend analysis.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC systems & VFDs.
• Experience with Motion Control software such as Rockwell Control Logix (5000).
