Job summary

Pomerleau Construction in Montreal is seeking a Construction Director to lead industrial projects valued from $50 million to over $1 billion. You will guide technical approaches, scheduling, safety, quality and client communications on site.

The role demands senior leadership, strong collaboration with internal teams, and hands-on oversight from concept through commissioning, with a focus on efficiency, compliance and project success.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering/architecture or equivalent trade certification.
• PMP certification or equivalent in construction management.
• Construction Site Safety course & WHMIS (SIMDUT) certification.
• Over 10 years related work experience in construction management, with 5+ years as construction manager.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation work meets project specs, on schedule and within budget, and complies with safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Provide overall technical and organisational direction for construction activities.
• Lead site meetings, coordinate with Contractors on progress, reviews, and construction coordination.
• Maintain a daily project diary, attend meetings, and participate in constructability reviews.
• Monitor daily work and review contractors' plans, activities, and resources.
• Supervise and direct field staff.
• Coordinate construction from concept to final delivery, ensuring safety, environmental and technical compliance.
• Represent Pomerleau to ensure subcontractor work aligns with design, schedule, and accounting.
• Lead the construction team through commissioning and testing.
• Assist with safety program implementation/interpretation.
