About the Opportunity
Zeus Electric & Controls Inc. is seeking experienced Red Seal Electricians for commissioning work at the McIlvenna Bay Copper Mine. This role focuses on ensuring all electrical systems are fully functional, safe, and ready for handover.
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Rate: $51.50/hr
- Shift: 14 days on / 14 days off
- Hours: 10‑hour days (OT after 8 hrs/day or 40 hrs/week) – extended hours as project requires
- Camp: Private rooms + full board provided
- Travel: Paid flights, coach bus, and compensated travel hours (straight time)
Electrical Commissioning Work
- Perform pre-start checks, continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing on:
- Motors (across conveyors, crushers, agitators, exhaust fans, and pumps)
- Motor control centers (MCCs) and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Transformers, switchgear, and distribution systems
- Validate and test safety circuits: emergency stops, overloads, grounding systems, interlocks.
- Work with control engineers to confirm PLC I/O mapping and HMI readings.
- Verify motor rotations, phase sequencing, and VFD programming.
- Record detailed test results, resolve deficiencies, and support punch-list closeouts.
- Ensure compliance with CEC standards, LOTO procedures, and commissioning safety protocols.
Qualifications – Red Seal Electricians
- Red Seal Certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commissioning, service, or industrial maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring prints.
- Skilled with multimeters, megohm meters, clamp meters, phase rotation testers, and thermal imaging tools.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, and distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of CEC standards and industrial safety practices.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary commissioning teams.
Assets (Preferred)
- Commissioning experience in mining, oil & gas, pulp & paper, or heavy industrial projects.
- Familiarity with arc flash safety, advanced testing documentation, and commissioning software tools.
- Previous experience working alongside instrumentation technicians during commissioning.
