Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

Strike is currently looking for a field Sandblaster/Coater. The Sandblaster/Coater role involves blasting and coating on piping and structural steel.

Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety,” adhere to Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

Project Details
  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400/shift
  • Camp retention: $25/day
Core Accountabilities
  • Blasting, painting, and coating materials to required specifications
  • Troubleshooting issues with field sandblast units, compressors, blast pots, hoses, etc.
  • Selecting appropriate coatings and mixing as per manufacturers' specifications
  • Testing atmosphere and paint/coating thicknesses; documenting results
  • Performing holiday testing when required and documenting results
  • Completing jobs timely to meet deadlines
  • Driving to and from various sites in a company vehicle
  • Coordinating with onsite client representatives
  • Working safely and maintaining a clean work environment
  • Cleaning equipment and performing routine maintenance
Safety Tickets Required
  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1)
  • WHMIS 2015 (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Arial Work Platform Training
Qualifications
Experience
  • 2+ years of related work experience operating various equipment
  • NACE Level 1 or 2 preferred
  • Knowledge of conventional and airless spray applications
Education
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
Skills & Abilities
  • Safety-focused attitude towards people and equipment
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Experience troubleshooting field issues
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision
