Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Strike is currently looking for a field Sandblaster/Coater General Foreperson to lead a small team of sandblasters and coaters on our Mount Bracey Compressor Station project. The Sandblaster/Coater team will be blasting and coating on above ground piping and structural steel.

Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

PROJECT DETAILS

  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400/shift
  • Camp retention: $25/day

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead a team of 4-6 persons and have proven experience during such work
  • Blasting/painting/coating material to the required specifications
  • Troubleshooting issues with field sandblast unit, compressor, blast pot, hose etc.
  • Select appropriate coating and mix as per manufacturers specifications
  • Testing the atmosphere and paint/coating thicknesses and filling out the required documentation
  • Holiday testing when required and filling out the proper documentation
  • Completing jobs in a timely manner meeting set deadlines
  • Driving to and from various sites in a company vehicle
  • Coordinate with onsite client representatives
  • Working safely and maintaining a clean working environment
  • Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance

Safety Tickets Required

  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
  • WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Arial Work Platform Training

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 2+ years of directly related work experience operating various types of equipment
  • NACE Level 1 or 2
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license is required
  • Knowledgeable in conventional and airless spray application areas

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Experience with trouble shooting issues in the field
  • Ability to work well in both independent and team environments and manage multiple tasks while working under minimal supervision
