Industrial Blasters And Painters (Edmonton, AB)

Our goal is to support various industries by offering essential services such as sandblasting, coating/painting, scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing, and asbestos removal. We assist clients with routine maintenance, large projects, and safety turnarounds, ensuring that industrial operations run smoothly and safely.

Job Summary
We are looking for Industrial Painters & Blasters to join our team for our growing Field Division, for Canadian wide work fronts starting mid-April. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying high-quality industrial coatings. You will work both indoors and outdoors in various industrial settings throughout the year. The available positions require a strong attention to detail and the ability to use a variety of tools and materials to ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Positions Available
Brock is currently looking for multiple candidates to fill various positions:

  • Apprentice
  • Journey Person
  • NACE/AMPP CIP Level 2, Certified Coating Inspector (minimum)
  • NACE/AMPP CIP Level 3, Senior Coating Inspector (ideally)

Wage is determined by skill level, experience, and trade qualifications.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous facility work, demonstrating familiarity with safety protocols and maintenance procedures
  • Sandblasting and coating internals of tanks and vessels, ensuring proper surface preparation
  • Sandblasting and coating of concrete surfaces, including knowledge of materials and techniques

Minimum Requirements

  • Safety training: Completion of CSTS 2020 with WHMIS; additional safety certifications such as Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid are preferred
  • Physical ability: Ability to work long hours (up to 12 hours) in different temperatures, including confined spaces
  • Noise and vibration: Use of hearing protection may be required
  • Respirator use: Comfortable wearing a full-face respirator and media blasting hood
  • Climbing and balance: Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding at heights
  • Physical tasks: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Footing: Maintain footing on slippery surfaces
  • Vision and hearing: Good vision and hearing (with aids if needed)
  • Communication skills: Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors
  • Coordination: Use of arms and hands for handling objects
  • Drug and alcohol testing: Negative result required
  • Driving license: Asset but not mandatory
  • NACE/AMPP certification: Asset but not required

Essential Functions

  • Surface preparation using hand tools and abrasive blast equipment
  • Repairing surfaces by filling cracks and holes
  • Applying coatings such as zincs, epoxies, and urethanes
  • Following project specifications and safety standards
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Adhering to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and contractor procedures
  • Reading and understanding project documentation
  • Supporting additional tasks as needed
