Job summary

HDR is seeking an Industrial Architecture Section Team Lead in Toronto. You will oversee production section operations, staff development, and workload balancing across local and national studios, while coordinating with engineering groups to staff projects effectively.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, advocate employee-owned culture, and ensure adherence to policy and quality standards within a dynamic architecture practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
  • Strong communication and listening skills; ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • Active participant in our employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, morale, and marketing support.
  • Take administrative responsibility for team staff, including managing team utilization and balancing project workloads both within the area and in coordination with national industrial architecture studios.
  • Lead and coordinate services with other local teams, national industrial architecture studios, and engineering business groups.
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system.
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy.
  • Select, train, develop and manage team staff.
  • Manage and develop multidiscipline teams.
  • Work cooperatively with Managing Principal, Project Managers, and other studio/team leaders on project staffing.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Industrial Architecture Section Team Lead, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in similar project types, such as mission critical facilities, data centers, advanced manufacturing, water treatment, maintenance facilities, or similar.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
  • Maintains a professional architecture license and is willing to stamp drawings

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full‑time regular positions. Temporary and part‑time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The pay range for Toronto, ON: $147,000 - $210,000
