Position Details
Title: Individual Claims, Case Manager
Reports To: Manager, Individual Claims and Client Relationships
Department: Individual Claims Operations
Term: Permanent Full Time
Work Arrangements
This is a hybrid role. You will work in our Waterloo, ON office a minimum of two consecutive days every other week, plus one additional day per month. You are welcome to work more than the minimum requirement, and some roles may require more in-office work.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Individual Claims, Case Manager to join our team!
What You Will Be Doing
- Setting up new incoming Life, Critical Illness, and Disability Claims.
- Triage incoming documents and reports.
- Communicating regularly with claimants, advisors, and third parties via written and verbal updates.
- Requesting and following up on medical information from external sources such as health records, doctors, funeral directors, police, medical examiners, and investigators.
- Gathering, reviewing, and inputting pertinent information into claims systems to assist adjudicators.
- Setting up and paying express claims.
- Coordinating and participating in departmental and cross-functional projects.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the claims experience.
What You Will Bring
- Knowledge of internal systems and products is an asset.
- Understanding of medical terminology and experience interpreting medical information is an asset.
- Empathetic communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Curiosity and analytical skills to gather information and make decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Attention to detail and prioritization abilities.
- Bilingual in French is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and think creatively.
