Job summary

Mino Obigiwasin is seeking a dedicated youth protection intervener to support the Lac Simon community. The role involves engaging children, their families, and community resources to implement solutions that protect development and safety.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team, provide psychosocial support, make referrals, and contribute to administrative tasks with an immediate start date.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in social work, criminology, delinquency intervention, special education, police or equivalent (or field experience).
• Relevant experience in community intervention or youth protection.
• Knowledge and experience in the First Nations environment is an asset.
• Class 5 driver's license; start date: immediately.

Responsibilities

• Ensure follow-up of children and adolescents in natural or substitute environments.
• Provide psychosocial interventions to compromised youth and their families.
• Develop and implement intervention plans based on assessment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and community resources.
• Make referrals and ensure follow-up as needed.
• Submit recommendations to the Youth Court when required and testify if necessary.
• Participate in projects, meetings and committees related to duties.
• Perform administrative tasks including record keeping and report writing.
