Job summary

FRAFCA in Surrey, BC is seeking a Youth Reaching Home Worker to assist youth with housing searches, transitions, and access to essential services. The role engages with youth to develop wellness plans and liaises with community partners and landlords to secure stable living environments.

The position requires knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act, harm reduction and Indigenous-focused approaches. A driver’s license and ability to transport clients may be required, with a 12-month temporary

Qualifications

  • Education in Child and Youth Care, or other Human Services.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with Indigenous youth.
  • Valid driver’s Licence, a clean driver’s abstract, and appropriate insurance to transport clients in your personal vehicle.
  • Must submit a criminal record and Vulnerable person’s check.

Responsibilities

  • Support housing searches and transition plans (food, groceries, appointments).
  • Knowledge of BC housing, affordable housing, LEM resources in the community.
  • Know RTB & RTA guidelines.
  • Provide one-to-one wellness plans with follow-ups.
  • Liaise with MCFD and SAGE; liaise with MSDPR and landlords.
  • Understand culturally appropriate approaches with Indigenous youth.
  • Support youth in finding employment including training and education.
  • Other duties as required.
