Job summary

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board seeks an Indigenous Support Worker to plan, prepare, and facilitate programming that increases Indigenous students’ pride, self-esteem, and belonging. The role supports mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health to foster graduation success.

Requirements include a related college diploma or university degree (NYW, CYW, psychology, sociology, social work, Indigenous studies) and lived experience; knowledge of FNMI cultures is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a field related to Indigenous youth work or social services.
• Experience with Indigenous youth; knowledge of FNMI traditions and perspectives.
• Ability to build relationships with Indigenous youth and families.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and facilitate Indigenous youth programming to boost cultural pride and belonging.
• Support Indigenous students’ mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health and graduation success.
• Collaborate with school teams and community partners to connect youth with services.
• Promote awareness of FNMI cultures and traditions among learners and staff.
