An established educational institution is seeking an Indigenous Support Worker to enhance Indigenous youth programming. The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,900 students in 17 schools located in Greater Sudbury, as well as in Killarney.
The Board is currently seeking an Indigenous Support Worker to join our dynamic and innovating team. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Education and the Principal, the Indigenous Support Worker will assist in planning, preparing, and facilitating Indigenous youth programming that will increase Indigenous students’ sense of cultural pride, self-esteem, and sense of belonging. The Indigenous Support Worker will also contribute to developing an awareness and appreciation of contemporary and traditional First Nation, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) traditions, cultures and perspectives for all learners and staff.
As a member of the school team, the Indigenous Support Worker will play a crucial role in supporting Indigenous youth’s mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health and support graduation success.

Required Education/Certification
• Community College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant field e.g. Native Youth Worker (NYW), Child and Youth Care Worker (CYW), Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Indigenous Studies. Lived experience will also be taken into consideration.
Required Experience
• Experience working with youth in the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Community;
• Demonstrated experience working in a team environment;
• Demonstrated understanding, experience, and sensitivity to, the values, beliefs, needs, and lived experiences of Indigenous youth and their communities.
Required Knowledge
• Knowledge of how to effectively build relationships with Indigenous youth and Indigenous families;
• Knowledge of provincial and local Indigenous Education initiatives;
• Knowledge of community services and supports available for Indigenous youth.
