About Us

Atura Power plays a vital role in Ontario’s electricity system and generation supply. As owners and operators of the province’s largest fleet of combined-cycle gas turbine generating stations, our flexible energy supports peak demand and ensures a reliable supply of power when Ontarians need it most.

Atura Power is also advancing Ontario’s energy transition through hydrogen and energy storage initiatives. We are committed to building strong, respectful partnerships with Indigenous Nations and communities as part of that future.

Position Overview

The Indigenous Relations Advisor plays a key role in strengthening the development and execution of Atura Power’s Indigenous relations program. Reporting to the Director, Environment & External Affairs, the role works in collaboration with the Senior Indigenous Relations Advisor and is responsible for engagement activities on assigned projects and building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities.

The Advisor will contribute to engagement strategy, partnership development, and project planning, working closely with internal teams and external partners to support Atura Power’s business objectives and broader commitment to reconciliation. The role values both professional experience and Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, community connection, and relationship-based ways of working.

This role may be well suited to an Indigenous candidate who brings experience working with, for, or within First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit communities, and who is comfortable taking ownership of assigned files, exercising sound judgment, and working in a dynamic, multi‑stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input into approaches to Indigenous partnerships and economic participation related to projects

Project Integration and Internal Advisory

  • Work with internal teams to integrate Indigenous perspectives into project development
  • Prepare and contribute to briefing materials for senior leadership, including analysis of engagement risks, opportunities, and recommended approaches
  • Contribute to internal alignment on engagement strategies and messaging

Engagement Execution and Coordination

  • The Advisor is accountable for planning and delivery of engagement activities on assigned projects, and for coordination and administrative aspects where appropriate
  • Ensure engagement activities are conducted in a culturally respectful and appropriate manner
  • Provide oversight and support of engagement documentation, including key outcomes, commitments, records of engagement and follow‑up actions

  • Support the development of engagement strategies and mitigation approaches
  • Escalate key issues and provide input on positioning and response

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct targeted research to inform engagement strategies and project planning
  • Monitor policy and regulatory developments relevant to Indigenous relations in Ontario
  • Translate research into practical insights and recommendations for internal teams

  • Experience supporting or delivering Indigenous engagement activities in a project or policy context
  • Strong judgment and ability to manage files independently in a multi‑stakeholder environment
