Job summary

Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to deliver trauma-informed, culturally safe primary health care within an Indigenous-led team. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor a wide range of health issues, collaborating with Traditional Healing, Social Work, Nursing and Mental Health specialists to support holistic well-being.

Base location with regional travel to communities is expected.

Qualifications

• RN(EC) in good standing with CNO
• Bachelor of Nursing and NP certification
• Master’s in Nursing preferred for NP role
• Experience in primary health care or community settings a plus
• Experience with Indigenous patients/communities
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and protocols
• Ability to integrate land-based healing and cultural approaches
• Trauma-informed approach to health care
• Familiarity with OTN referrals to specialists and traditional healers
• Ability to travel to multiple sites and work independently or in teams

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, culturally safe primary health care
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor patients in a full-scope NP role
• Collaborate with interprofessional team (Trad. Healing, Social Work, Nursing, etc.)
• Engage with Indigenous communities and practice Indigenous health principles
• Work in clinic space and community with travel to sites as required
