Job summary

The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) seeks a Community-Based Nurse Practitioner to deliver trauma-informed, culturally safe primary care in Indigenous settings across Simcoe Muskoka. You will join an interprofessional team, collaborating with RNs, physicians, Traditional Healers, and community partners to deliver full-scope care.

Travel and community-based care are essential. Applicants should be a Registered Nurse (RN) with Extended Class (RN(EC)) in good standing, and hold a Primary

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with Extended Class (RN(EC)) in good standing.
  • Member of RNAN Ontario and/or Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario.
  • Baccalaureate Nursing degree and NP certificate required.
  • Master’s in Nursing/NP program preferred.
  • Experience in primary care or community settings is an asset.
  • Experience with Indigenous patients is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and protocols.
  • Trauma-informed, patient-driven care experience.
  • Experience with EMRs and electronic office environments.
  • Ability to work independently and in an interprofessional team.
  • Valid G-class Ontario Driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver trauma-informed, culturally safe primary care as part of an interprofessional team.
  • Provide care to registered Indigenous patients in multiple community settings.
  • Travel across Simcoe Muskoka using mobile clinic and community sites.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, Traditional Healers and others.
  • Contribute to planning, coordination and delivery of health services.
