The Role
We're seeking an Indigenous Experience Lead to ensure our products, services, and communications authentically serve Indigenous communities across Canada. You'll guide teams in implementing Indigenous-first design principles, facilitate meaningful community engagement, and help build cultural competency throughout our organization. This role sits at the heart of our mission, ensuring every solution advances Indigenous digital sovereignty while respecting diverse Indigenous perspectives.
This role is about cultural leadership and advocacy. We're looking for someone who brings lived Indigenous experience, community connections, and cultural wisdom to guide our work.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role requires an Indigenous candidate with deep cultural knowledge and strong community connections.
You should have:
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person with understanding of diverse Indigenous cultures
- Strong connections to Indigenous communities across Canada
- Experience facilitating cultural education and awareness programs
- Understanding of Indigenous governance, protocols, and worldviews
- Ability to bridge Indigenous knowledge systems with technology development
What You'll Do
Indigenous Experience Design Leadership
- Ensure accurate and respectful representation of Indigenous culture across all products and services
- Guide teams in implementing Indigenous-first design principles
- Conduct cultural sensitivity reviews across customer touchpoints
- Develop frameworks for designing and evaluating Indigenous user experience
- Establish processes for measuring best-in-class Indigenous user experience
Community Engagement and Relationships
- Build and maintain relationships with diverse Indigenous communities across Canada
- Facilitate meaningful dialogue between communities and OneFeather teams
- Guide community consultation and co-creation processes
- Ensure Indigenous voices directly inform design decisions
- Create pathways for continuous community input while maintaining trust
Cultural Strategy and Organizational Development
- Guide development of cultural competency across OneFeather
- Work with executive team to advance Indigenous digital sovereignty
- Develop metrics for measuring community impact
- Create learning opportunities to deepen organizational understanding
- Advocate for Indigenous needs in technical and product decisions
Qualifications
Preferred experience:
- Deep knowledge of Indigenous cultures, governance, and protocols
- Experience in Indigenous community engagement or liaison roles
- Background in cultural education, Indigenous studies, or related fields
- Experience working at the intersection of Indigenous knowledge and technology
- Understanding of the distinction between Indigenous communities across Canada
