Job summary

Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation is seeking an Indigenous Early Learning Resource Worker to support development, implementation, and management of culturally appropriate ECE programs. This full-time contract role works with the BNA EarlyOn Program, collaborating with Elders, families, and community leaders to integrate Ojibwe language and culture.

The role requires constructing monthly curricula, ensuring holistic child development, and maintaining health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education diploma will be considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions.
  • Leadership & Program Management: Experience managing programs, teams, and budgets, especially in community-based settings.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work with Indigenous communities, parents, government agencies, and educational institutions.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with local, provincial, or national ECE policies and Indigenous challenges.
  • Relevant Education & Experience: Background in early childhood education, social work, community development, or a related field; Indigenous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, development, and rollout of Indigenous-focused early learning and childcare programs.
  • Ensure programs reflect Indigenous culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Work with communities, Elders, families, and local leaders to incorporate input into program design.
  • Assist in planning monthly programming and curriculum centered around Ojibwe language and culture.
  • Incorporate developmental, emotional, hygiene, and self-care skills into daily programming.
  • Oversee daily/weekly cleaning checklist and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Support inclusion of Indigenous language programs, ceremonies, and teachings.
  • Track program effectiveness through data and feedback, and improve delivery.
