Job summary

Oahas in Thunder Bay is seeking a Community Prevention Worker for a six‑month contract (Oct 2026–Mar 2027). The role involves culturally grounded STBBI education, one‑to‑one navigation, harm reduction supply distribution, and linkage to care.

You will run drop‑in programming, facilitate cultural workshops, and collaborate with local partners. Responsibilities include testing/referral activities, client support, and data entry, with occasional evening/weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence required.
• Understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing.

Responsibilities

• Promote harm reduction and safe practices; distribute harm reduction supplies and run outreach/drop-in services.
• Facilitate education groups on STBBI prevention and cultural wellness for Indigenous communities.
• Support testing, treatment linkage, and case management activities.
• Maintain program documentation: OCASE/Treat, OCHART, and NEO database entries.
• Coordinate with partners and volunteers to deliver culturally grounded programming.
• Occasionally work evenings/weekends and flexibility with schedule.
