Job summary

Athabasca Tribal Council is seeking a Community Engagement & Education Supervisor to lead a team delivering culturally responsive education and engagement for Member Nations. You will integrate Indigenous culture into programming and collaborate with CFS, ATC, Elders, and external partners to strengthen families and communities.

You will guide program development, oversee budgets, and ensure reporting that blends data with community stories, while promoting reconciliation and respectful

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Work, Addictions, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience, including supervising and developing teams.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing and delivering culturally responsive programs for First Nations communities.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, family systems, legislation, First Nations frameworks.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, restorative practices, motivational interviewing, or related approaches.
  • Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, organizational, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management, reporting, and data-management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, mentorship, and performance management to the Community Education and Engagement team.
  • Lead planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of culturally responsive prevention, education, and early intervention programs.
  • Identify and mitigate risk factors and support families to navigate services and resources.
  • Ensure programs reflect Indigenous cultures, languages, and priorities and promote family and community connections.
  • Engage Elders and Knowledge Keepers in program development, including traditional teachings.
  • Create opportunities for families to participate in educational initiatives and build resilience.
  • Develop teamwork plans, program budgets, and family plans with collaborative decision-making.
  • Build partnerships with Member Nations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a visible presence in communities and supervise staff.
  • Monitor program performance and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with data and stories.
  • Perform other duties to support organizational objectives.
