We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Indigenous Community Coordinator to foster meaningful relationships and engagement with Indigenous communities. This role is essential in supporting partnerships, ensuring cultural awareness, and contributing to reconciliation efforts with various stakeholder groups in the community where our client operates and this project will take place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration on initiatives that align with Indigenous interests and priorities.
  • Provide guidance on cultural protocols, traditions, and community engagement best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of Indigenous-focused programs and policies.
  • Assist in organizing events, meetings, and consultations with Indigenous partners.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment with Indigenous relations strategies.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with Indigenous groups, communities or advocating for Indigenous rights.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and communities.
  • Experience in community engagement, Indigenous relations, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation efforts and Indigenous rights in Canada.
  • Previous experience in a corporate or government setting is an asset.
