Job summary

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia in Eskasoni is seeking a regular, full-time Communication Disorders Technician to provide clinical support under a speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist. The CDT coordinates, develops, facilitates, and participates in community-based, clinic, and caregiver education activities to raise awareness and promote early identification.

The home base for this position is Eskasoni, with a focus on working with autistic children and their families within the

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized diploma in a related field or completion of a Communication Disorders Technician program.
  • On-the-job training in speech, language and hearing services.
  • Effective written and spoken English; additional language requirements may apply.
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and occasional travel.
  • Immunization/booster requirements may apply.
  • Experience with children with communication disorders.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support under a speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist.
  • Coordinate, develop, facilitate, and participate in caregiver education and screening activities.
  • Work in diverse settings (homes, clinics, preschool, hospital) and with the Preschool Autism Service.
