ABOUT THE PRIMARY INDIGENOUS STUDENT BURSARY:

At Primary, we recognize the value in building relationships and providing opportunities for underrepresented communities. Uplifting and empowering diverse perspectives and priorities is a driving force behind our decisions. The Primary Indigenous Student Bursary is one aspect of how we at Primary are working to facilitate an increase in underrepresented people in the engineering design & construction space.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

This scholarship is available to Indigenous students in any year of their post-secondary education who are enrolled in programs related to Primary’s areas of business including Powerline Technicians (PLTs), Electrical Engineering, Design/Design-build, drafting, business, and related disciplines. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time studies at a Post-Secondary Institution in an eligible province and must be able to provide proof of enrollment. Applicants will be asked to submit a personal introduction (either a self-written letter or recorded video) demonstrating a passion for the utilities sector and how this scholarship will help them achieve their academic goals.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: - Please Read Carefully
  1. Proof of Ancestry (Upload to the Additional Documents section): Upload a copy of one of the following: a status card, beneficiary identification, or an official letter confirming Indigenous ancestry.
  2. Academic Documentation (Upload to the Additional Documents section): Please provide the following:
    • Your most current class schedule, if available.
    • An acceptance letter from an accredited post-secondary institution or a copy of your most recent transcript.
  3. Personal Introduction (Upload to the Cover Letter section or email if submitting a video): Submit a personal introduction in one of the following formats:
    • Written (1–2 pages): Introduce yourself, explain how this bursary will support your academic goals, and describe your career aspirations in the utilities sector or engineering consulting. Upload the written version to the Cover Letter section.
    • Video (3–5 minutes): If you prefer to submit a video introduction, please email it to OTTER@primaryeng.com.
