Job description

Independent Psychologist - Diagnostic Assessments

We are seeking licensed clinical psychologists in Ontario to provide diagnostic assessments as independent contractors. Layla works with psychologists in private practice in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. We help complement your private practice with clients that align to your strengths and areas of clinical interest. We understand that you went into private practice perhaps seeking more independence, and we work with you to retain that control and flexibility while belonging to a new community.

At Layla, our mission is to bridge the gap between wanting mental health care and getting it. We work with a diverse client base from a broad range of backgrounds, life experiences, and needs, and we are looking to expand our psychological assessments as they appear to be a much-needed service for clients.

Types of assessments

We offer psychological assessments for ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, BPD, and if you specialize in other areas we can offer that as well (e.g., somatic symptom disorder, eating disorders, substance use disorders). You would provide basic diagnostic assessments that support clients who are looking for diagnoses for purposes such as treatment planning, medication management from their GPs, or potential accommodations at work or school. At this time, this program does not provide assessments for third-party disability applications, capacity or custody evaluations, legal or tax reasons, medical-legal assessments, or psychoeducational assessments.

Tailored collaboration

You let us know your capacity/how many assessments you would like to do per week or month. We tailor our collaboration to suit your private practice, and you retain control over your schedule and workload. There are no monthly or referral fees. You are paid a flat fee for each completed assessment and we pay for the psychometrics you choose to administer.

A new model and community

Be part of a new model to simplify clients’ access to assessments. We work with compassionate and competent psychologists committed to achieving better outcomes for their clients. Layla Partner Psychologists will receive access to optional peer consultation, our Layla Therapy educational events, and social events.

Basic requirements for consideration
  • Licensed psychologist or psychological associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
  • Training and experience assessing for ADHD, mood/anxiety disorders, and trauma
  • Professional malpractice liability insurance in place
  • Comfortable using technology
  • Ability to see clients online (secure platform provided by Layla)

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, Layla also requires successful completion of a background check facilitated electronically by Layla.
