Intermediate to Senior Independent Claims Adjuster – Specialty Lines

Remote in the following locations: Calgary, AB (Job#9740), Edmonton, AB (Job#9741) and Vancouver, BC (Job#9742)

Key Accountabilities

  • Investigate claims, including interviewing claimants, witnesses and relevant parties.
  • Determine the validity of claims, assess damages and negotiate settlements.
  • Inspect property damage, take photographs and assess the extent of damages.
  • Manage specialty claims to include Commercial and Industrial Property from Construction Projects to Mining, Energy and Wind Farms.
  • Manage claims for the Entertainment Industry to include Professional and Wrap up Liability and some Commercial General Liability as required.
  • Analyze insurance policies to determine coverage for specific losses.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and insurance companies.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting the investigation, assessment and settlement processes.
  • Attend industry events and client visits to build the Company brand.

Key Qualifications/Attributes

  • A valid claims adjuster license according to corresponding Province of work requirements for Alberta, Level 2 or 3 and British Columbia Level 3.
  • 5-10 years experience with a variety of highly specialized Commercial Property Claims and Professional Liability claims.
  • A strong understanding of insurance policies, claims procedures and industry regulations.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate settlements and resolve disputes through sound judgement and strong decision making.
  • Ability to analyze complex and technical claims and make accurate determinations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and insurers.
  • Analytical with the ability to identify and solve complex problems within the claims process.
  • High attention to detail and meticulous in reviewing policy details and documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of others' reactions and motivations.
  • Demonstrate high diligence with the ability to work well independently and also collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficient with claims software and other relevant technology.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for site visits within the assigned territory.

Note: Prospective candidates must be comfortable with a commission-based structure which will transition from a base salary upon receiving a full case load – Salary ranges are within $100K-$200K.
