Qualifications

Job description

Inclusive Education Teachers (1.0 FTE)
Continuing Full-Time with Benefits

This is a full-time continuing contract position with benefits; therefore, applicants must be available to work every day. Teachers are typically placed in long term temporary positions such as medical/parental leaves or continuing vacancies. In the event that there are no long-term assignments/vacancies, the successful applicant will be guaranteed day-to-day work.

Only candidates who are fully qualified will be considered for this position.

The Role:

  • May work in areas that range from inclusive classroom settings to smaller self-contained classrooms.
  • Works with students with developmental disabilities and/or autism.
  • Conducts a variety of assessments including classroom observation, curriculum based, informal and formal.
  • Provides direct instruction to students using a variety of teaching and management strategies.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Uses Functional Behaviour Assessments to develop positive behaviour support plans.
  • Liaisons with parents, school, district staff and multi-disciplinary team (eg. doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, social workers).
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Education.
  • Completion of one of the following:
    • Masters in Special Education
    • Diploma in Special Education
    • 1 year Full-Time Continuing contract as a Resource Teacher.
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset.
  • Completion of an Educational Assistant program and/or experience as an Educational Assistant is an asset.
  • Membership in or eligible to become a member in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service.

  • Experienced Teachers - A Teaching Evaluation completed within the past 8 years.
