Job summary

School District 72 in Campbell River is seeking a Child and Youth Worker (Inclusive Education) to support learner success across the district. The role involves collaboration with teachers, counselors, and allied professionals to promote social and emotional development for a caseload of students.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in child and youth care work and at least one year experience with at-risk youth.
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous students and families.
• Experience in a secondary school setting would be an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist school personnel in creating an inclusive school environment.
• Monitor attendance and encourage class attendance.
• Act as home-school liaison for parents and families on attendance and achievement.
• Collaborate with administration, counselors, teachers, and Inclusive Education team to reduce barriers to attendance.
• Develop and administer behavior support programs and check-in/check-out systems.
• Establish relationships with Indigenous organizations and community agencies as needed.
• Transport students when required and maintain confidentiality.
