Job summary

Horizon School Division in Taber, Alberta seeks an Educational Assistant for Taber Central Elementary School. The role supports a diverse group of learners from Early Learning to Grade 5, with emphasis on inclusion and student well‑being.

The position is approx. 22 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:20 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., commencing immediately to aid students with varying needs in a welcoming school community.

Qualifications

• Experience with students of various ages and needs is pertinent.
• Training with communication and English as an additional language is an asset.
• Experience supporting students with complex needs is valued.

Responsibilities

• Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.
• Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
• Provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc., ensuring student dignity.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, including supervision and handling challenging behaviours.
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
