Cummins Inc. is seeking an In-shop Service Technician in Dartmouth, NS. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing on and off highway engines with a focus on preventative maintenance and documentation. The successful candidate will possess a Truck and transport Red Seal certification, have a solid background in engine products, and demonstrate coaching abilities. We are looking for a talented In-shop Service Technician to join our Distribution business in Dartmouth NS.
This position is in an union environment. This position will be on a rotational work schedule.
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following :
Education, Licenses, Certifications
Truck and transport Red Seal certification required
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations
Experience
Intermediate level of work shop experience required
Advanced level knowledge of and / or experience with engine products
Advanced) :
Ability to troubleshoot with limited / no support from diagnostic tools
Larger more complicated engine rebuilds
Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
Qualifications
A copy of your red seal certification or trades diploma is required for this position.
A copy of a 5 years drivers abstract is required for this position.
A valid local drivers license is required for this position.
Responsibilities
About the role :
This position is in a union environment.
You will be working on On and OFF highway Engines (from liters to 15 liters) on the following :
Transit buses
Working hours are on a rotational shift : Days : 8 : 00am to 5 : 00 pm Nights : 3 : 00pm to Midnight
Pay is $ hourly
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs
Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine
Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens
Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
Coaches and develops technicians and / or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc
Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
Adheres to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor
