Qualifications

  • Professional Structural Engineer, licensed in Ontario.
  • Experience in commercial construction; roofing, cladding or glazing is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation plans for roofing, cladding, and glazing systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to structural loads, attachment methods, and system performance.
  • Seal and sign architectural drawings, calculations, and other documentation as required.
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to identify project requirements and potential conflicts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to develop constructible and cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Assist with submittal packages, RFIs, and technical documentation.
  • Update drawings and engineering documents throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support to field crews during installation.

We are looking to bring on a full-time in-house Engineer/Drafter to support our expanding scope of work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of engineering design, problem-solving, and collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams.

Position Overview

The In-House Engineer/Drafter will be responsible for producing detailed drawings, engineering calculations, and technical documentation for commercial roofing, cladding, and glazing projects. This role supports both pre-construction and active project phases, ensuring designs meet structural requirements, manufacturer specifications, and building codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation plans for roofing, cladding, and glazing systems
  • Perform engineering calculations related to structural loads, attachment methods, and system performance
  • Seal and sign architectural drawings, calculations, and other documentation as required
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to identify project requirements and potential conflicts
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to develop constructible and cost-effective solutions
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure compliance with product specifications
