ROLE PURPOSE

The Home Share Program offers a residential option where adults with developmental disabilities live with someone contracted with Connective to provide ongoing support. The In-Home Caregiver's role is to create a safe home environment that fosters social and life skills development, helping individuals reach their full potential for independence through daily support.

HOURS

This position requires supervision of the client as needed.

Location: Vancouver, BC
  • Provide flexible support to individuals with changing needs within a home setting
  • Follow the guidelines in the Home Sharing Services Handbook and other relevant policies
  • Ensure suitable accommodation (ownership or lease) as the primary residence for the individual
  • Maintain a stable, structured, and home-like environment with positive role models for safety
  • Take appropriate actions to meet the objectives for the service user
  • Cooperate with agency or ministry plans regarding the individual's placement outside the home
  • Establish safety and emergency procedures aligned with the Personal Service Plan
  • Involve the individual and their family in planning and decision-making whenever possible
  • Assist in developing and maintaining friendships and relationships
  • Maintain communication with support teams, ensuring professionalism
  • Complete administrative duties such as Critical Incident Reports
  • Report regularly to the Home Share Manager, including bi-monthly check-ins
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Trauma-informed approach or harm reduction model
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports
  • Adequate space and time to care for the individual
  • Desire or experience in supporting individuals toward independence
  • Experience caring for individuals facing multiple barriers

Preference for providers with social services experience, knowledge of non-profit environments, and familiarity with developmental disabilities.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check for all residents over 18
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Comfortable working with substance use and mental health issues
  • Basement suite or room in the house is required
COMPENSATION

Compensation varies based on contract and individual needs, ranging from $1,585 to $3,500 per month.
